Dr. Eklund makes presentation to the World President’s Organization. The WPO is a group of CEO’s of mid-sized companies from numerous countries including the U.S. Dr. Eklund spent three hours with the group in Ocean Reef, Florida in an interactive presentation entitled “Happy aging with a positive mental attitude.”
Presentation made at the University of Miami Dr. Eklund was invited to speak to undergraduates in a course entitled Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the School of Arts and Sciences. Her talk was entitled “Functional Medicine in a Clinical Setting.”
IFM Conference on Food and Nutrition From June 5 to June 8, 2014, Dr. Eklund attended a national conference presented by the Institute for Functional Medicine. The theme of the conference was “Functional Perspectives on Food and Nutrition: the Ultimate Upstream Medicine.” The seminars included “Nutritional controversies: what’s the right diet?,” “Prenatal nutrition concerns” and “Biomarkers – uncovering nutrient insufficiencies.”
IFM Conference on Functional Medicine and Genetics Dr. Eklund will be attending “The Omics Revolution: Nature and Nurture” in Austin, Texas from May 28 to May 31. Some of the seminar titles will include: “Our rapidly increasing knowledge of cancer risk, oncogenic potential and individualized cancer therapy” and “genomic effects on wellness and resilience.”
Dr. Eklund to speak on Advanced Directives with more than 20 years as chairperson of the South Miami Hospital Ethics Committee, Dr. Eklund will relate her experiences in a presentation entitled “Advanced Directives: Mapping Your Journey at the End of Life.” The presentation will be made at Plymouth Congregational Church’s Davis Hall at 11:30 am on Sunday, June 14.
Dr. Eklund Makes Two South Florida Presentations
On February 28, 2012, Dr. Eklund spoke to the Hadassah group at the Jewish Community Center in Kendall. The title of her talk was “Navigating Midlife: Hormones and Bones.” On March 26, she spoke to the female residents of Ocean Reef on “Holistic Health for Women.”

The Sunday Miami Herald (6-12-11) included a special supplement focusing on women’s health. Based on an extensive interview by Elena Iglesias, the article “Doctors Try to Strike Right Hormonal Balance” was published on page 5HH. In it, Dr. Eklund talked about her relationships with menopausal patients and some of the dilemmas they face.

This was the topic of the 18th International Symposium on Functional Medicine. Attendees came away with a heightened awareness of the extent that infections play in humankind’s maladies, from Lyme disease to (perhaps) autism.
Dr. Eklund Keynote Speaker at Red Dress Luncheon
On March 4, 2011, Dr. Eklund spoke on “Stress, Hormones and Your Heart” to a group of approximately 200 women at the annual Red Dress Luncheon in Grand Caymen. The affair was the annual fundraiser benefiting cardiovascular education. While on the island, she also was part of a 30 minute TV interview and gave a public health fair lecture entitled “The Truth about Bio-identical Hormones.”
